Health and Fitness Day

A big thank you to the Chadron State College for putting on a great Health and Fitness Day for our third grader. We learned a bunch and enjoyed all of the different activities.

Bird Banding

A little late, but another great day in 3rd grade. On our trip to the state park we were able to watch several birds be banded. We also got to see a couple species that were new to the banding station. Along with watching the banding, we went on a great hike and played a wonderful game to learn about the hardship of migration. As usual the Bird Conservatory of the Rockies did an amazing job!

Johnny Appleseed

 All of the third graders enjoyed learning about Johnny Appleseed last week. Everyone had a blast doing some reading, art, and science. And of course we had to incorporate some food, with apple pancakes topped with apple butter.

More Science Fun

In the last couple of weeks we have been learning all about matter. We have talked about solids, liquids, and gases. While learning about physical changes we have made lots of different substances. We have made slime, instant snow, and oobleck. It has sure been fun getting our hands dirty.

Who knew cornstarch and water could be so much fun? Is it a solid or a liquid?

We started with a little powder. Then we added a little water...and just like that it was snowing in Mrs.Olson's room.
