Monument Presentations

After learning about several different monuments the students picked a National Monument/Park to study more about. They did a wonderful job presenting their research to the class. We sure live in a pretty cool country.

Slime

Science is a blast! We had so much fun learning about chemical changes while making slime.

Johnny Appleseed

Johnny Appleseed's birthday was September 26th. All of third grade enjoyed celebrating his birthday with fun activities. We mixed in some art, science, reading, and of course food. 

Oobleck

Science is a blast. The third grade has been learning about the different states of matter. The students were tasked with a very hard question. Where does oobleck fall? Is it a solid or liquid? 

Animals Inside and Out

Both 3rd and 4th grade had a blast learning all about animals. Thank you to the UNL Extension Program for giving our students such a great experience.

We enjoyed a delicious snack while learning about the digestive system.

Our class was super excited to actually touch a heart. We learned lots about the circulatory system.

We learned about the management of animals. We enjoyed watching how animals get vaccinated.

What do you want to be when you grow up? We heard about some great careers working with animals. 

Our absolute favorite was getting to pet the horses, sheep, goats, and cows.

The muscular system proved to be very yummy. We got a delicious snack while learning about how much meat we actually get off animals.

The students were very engaged in learning about the reproduction system.

We got to build our own bones. We loved learning about the skeletal system.

Bingo is always a class favorite. The students learned about by-products while enjoying a fun game.

Bird Banding

        Our class absolutely loved our field trip to State Park to learn about bird banding.  We were able to watch two birds be banded, a Wilson Warbler and a Red Breasted Nut Hatch. It was very interesting to see how Aaron banded the birds. We asked tons of great questions and learned all about why bird banding is important. The wonderful leaders also led us in activities. We got to make bird feeders and play a game teaching us about habitats. Thank you to the Bird Conservatory of the Rockies and the State Park for helping set up this wonderful experience.
